How to delete sub-records

Summary:

Some menus contain records that have sub-records.  For example, division records in the Divisions menu, have class records that are attached to each division record.  These class records are termed "sub-records".  Other examples are Fees for Exhibitor records, Buyer transactions for Sale records, and so fourth.

Clicking on the "Delete" button on a parent record will not only delete the parent record but all sub-records that are attached to it.  This is by design.

In order to delete one or more sub-records of a parent record, follow the steps below.

Note: The following applies to ShoWorks 2006 and prior.  In ShoWorks 2009, simply place your cursor in a field of a record (or sub-record) that you want to delete and click the "Delete" button.

ShoWorks 2006 users:

Steps to deleting one sub-record:

  1. Click inside any field of the sub-record that you wish to delete.
  2. Verify that the cursor (blinking) is in that record, and select Edit>>Delete Record(s) from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Steps to deleting many sub-records at once:

  1. Click and drag the gray record selector at the left of each sub-record to select.
  2. Select Edit>>Delete Records(s) .
